He was well dressed, sophisticated, friendly. Just the kind of customer to browse diamonds costing tens of thousands of dollars.

But Victor Lupis, 25, was no shopper.

Behind the warm green eyes, infectious charm and delicate frame was a grab man for an interstate diamond heist ring that spent a year nabbing nearly $2 million in jewels and platinum. Lupis and his crew knocked over jewelers in California, Oregon, Nevada and Florida, with cunning, charisma and speed.

A February pit stop on their cross-country spree included Genesis Diamonds in Nashville, where Lupis filched $270,000 worth of jewelry.

They were the bane of jewelers across the country, who had already seen more grab-and-run schemes in recent years. But few, they agreed, had the sophistication of this crew.

An arrest and confession eventually shed light on how they did it, and led to a roundup of the alleged players, some of whom deny a role in the crimes. This is how officials think the crew, and the heists, came together.

Lupis was still a small-time crook with a short rap sheet — assault, drug possession and some problems with his driver’s license — when the crew recruited him as a front man. Michael Carey Young, 39, was the mastermind and lookout. Ernest Remor III, 36, second in command, often jetted across the country to fence the diamonds.

Trey Smith Adams, 27, who specialized in lifting Dodge minivans, stole and drove the getaway cars. Jack “Damian” Cannon, 25, diverted attention from Lupis while he made the grab.

Ok I Been Researching Alot About Each Military Branch One Reason Why I Want To Enlist Is Because I Am 18 Yrs Of Age And Its Better If I Start Early Nd Finish When Im 22-24 Of Age My Question Is I Am Looking Between Air Force And Coast Guard For Sure I Wont Be Enlisting To The Marines Or Army Because I Am Looking For Something That I Can Go To School In The Same Time I Know The Army Has College But I Heard You Take Online Courses And Etc But In The Air Force Its More Of An Advantage The Best Opportunity Because What Every You Do In The Air Force Counts Towards College Credits In The Community College Of The Air Force. I Am Looking Into Law Enforcement And I Have Spoken To The Los Angeles And Long Beach Police Department And Told Me That Any Military Branch You Serve Will Give You An Extra Step In Compared To The Rest Of The Applicants Because As Long As Your Honorably Discharged They Know You Have Clean Record And Already Diciplined. Now I Dont Want To Do Marines 5811 MP Or Army MOS 31B MP Or Air Force Special Forces Navy At Arms Because I Want To Do Something Else That Will Benefit Me To Easily Transition From The Military To The Civilian World In Case! I Cant Get A Police Job For A While. Just In Case A Back Up Job. So I Narrowed It Down To Air Force And Coast Guard For What I Kno Is That Both Of Those Once You Have A Certain Job And Experience You Can Get Hired In Those Military Branches Another Is In The Coast Guard You Dont Deply Unless Volunteerly Do So While The Air Force You Do Deploy But For Just 3-5 Months Usually 3 I Dont Mind Deployment Im Just Worried Is Air Force Right For Me If I Want To Pursue A Career In Law Enforcement As A Police Officer? Or Sheriff? Or Highway Patrol? Etc Even If I Do Sumthing Else In The Air Force Like HVAC Heating Ventilation And Air Conditioning Refigeration? How Will The CCAF Work Community College Of The Air Force? How Can You Get An AA Degree If Your Deployed Or In A Diff State All I Kno Is That The Community College Of The Air Force Is In Alabama And I Know Its Acredited And Transferable Say That I Want To Apply In University Of Domniguez Hills In Carson, CA For Criminal Justice. How Does That Work? In The air Force I Dont Understand How You Can Do School But Work And Deploy At Once? Im Really Lost I Want To Study Criminal Justice Or At Least Obtain An Associate So I Can Be Ready Even tho I Want T Do Sumthing Else In The Air Force Just In Case. In My County Its LA The Requirements To Be A Police Officer Is Be The Age Of 21 Be US Citizen Clean Criminal Record Heights Do Not Matter Since Im 5’5 And Have A Highschool Diploma Or GED. Overall My Main Answer Will It Really Be Worth Going To The Air Force And At Least Obtain An Associate Degree Knocking Of The Basics Etc Nd Discharge. Will It Give Me Better Outlet In The Police Department? Most Applicant Just Apply With Highschool Diploma. Or Ppl With Just GED Or Ppl With Military Experience Or Just College But If I Have Military Experience, College, And Diploma And Alil Volunteering Will Tat Really Set 3 Steps Ahead Of Any Other Common Applicants? Is Air Force Worth It For The Community College? Or Coast Guard I Stay Near The Coast Line And Not Deploy But In My Free Time Go To Community Colleges Like Cerritos Or LBCC Etc. Im So Lost. For Sure Im Not Doing MP Or Anything Ill Do Sumthing Else In The Military But After Im Done Im Going Straight To Police Department. Im So Sorry I Wrote Alot I Just Dont Even Kno Where To Start. If This Helps Is The Air Force Really Better If All I Want Is To Become More Educated? After All Its The Only Military Branchs Offering Community College With AA Degree. The Other Branches Nope.
