Son allegedly attacks father with rail spike

A 19-year-old Willits man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly hit his father in the head with a steel railroad spike, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a Ridgewood Road home in Willits at about 11:20 a.m. to investigate the alleged assault. The learned Jacob E. McKey, 19, allegedly hit the back of his father's head at least twice with a steel railroad spike, punched him repeatedly and bit his forearm.

The father, Mark McKey, 51, had lacerations on his head from the incident and was taken by ambulance to Howard Memorial Hospital for treatment. Jacob McKey was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the Mendocino County Jail.

Shooting suspect caught

Authorities arrested a Fort Bragg man Saturday who was wanted for allegedly shooting at two people in a car in a Thursday incident, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office reported.

Fort Bragg police officers and county sheriff's deputies got information that Daniel Shealor, 41, was staying at a motel in Fort Bragg and went there at about 10:30 p.m. to arrest him.

Shealor spotted the officers and allegedly locked himself inside a hotel room, according to the MCSO. Deputies forced their way in and arrested Shealor without incident on suspicion of attempted murder and violating his probation. He is being held without bail at the Mendocino County Jail.

Ukiah man arrested in domestic incident

Sheriff's deputies arrested a 34-year-old Ukiah man Friday night who allegedly pushed his girlfriend when she wouldn't serve him food, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrived in the 3000 block of North State Street in Ukiah at 7:52 p.m. and arrested David San Diego Jr. on suspicion of public intoxication. The talked to a 56-year-old Ukiah woman, who reported San Diego entered her home, woke her up by making loud noises and demanded she make him food. She refused and San Diego allegedly got upset and pushed her, then broke a picture on her wall.

The woman called 9-1-1 and San Diego allegedly hung up the phone while she was talking to a dispatcher, then left the woman's home just before deputies arrived.

A search of San Diego's person turned up several prescription pills that weren't his, according to the MCSO, and he was allegedly on probation.

San Diego is held without bail at the Mendocino County Jail.

Glass Beach is a beach in MacKerricher State Park near Fort Bragg, California that is abundant in sea glass created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline near the northern part of the town.

The area is now frequently visited by tourists. Though not officially permitted, many still scour the beach for interesting curios to take home as souvenirs. The glass is no longer allowed to be taken from the beach. When the beach was cleaned up people were quickly attracted to the beautiful glass so they took it. Before the beach could be destroyed the California Parks & Recreation Dept. took over the beach.
